WHO IS THE BEST BACK

After week 12 the two backs in question have each scored again. I will give you the stats, the facts and then my opinion.

ADRIAN PETERSON TOTALS
230 rushes, 1084 yards - 27 catches, 233 yards - 12 TD's - 5 fumbles - 5.1 yards per touch. Adrian fumbles the ball every 51 touches on the ball and leads the NFL running backs for fumbles.

CHRIS JOHNSON TOTALS
217 rushes, 1396 yards - 33 catches, 294 yards - 10 TD's - 1 fumbles - 6.76 yards per touch.
with only one fumble in 250 touches the math is easy.

Chris Johnson plays on a less productive team whose air attack is very weak meaning teams stack up the box.

Adrian Peterson plays on one of the top passing teams which could mean that everyone's concern of Peterson is allowing the air attack to have weak coverage.

They are both great backs and every team would dream of having them. In my eyes Chris Johnson would be the MVP of these two players for what he means to his team and the simple fact that he leads Peterson in every category other than TD's.

Todd "The True Guru" Farino, RC Rizza, and AJ Pelletier present their weekly rankings.

Top 15 Quarterbacks
Top 20 Runningbacks
http://www.fantasyfootballsearch.com/draftkit/expert_picks_1.asp

Top 30 Wide Receivers
Top 15 Tight Ends
http://www.fantasyfootballsearch.com/draftkit/expert_picks_2.asp

Top 15 Defenses
http://www.fantasyfootballsearch.com/draftkit/expert_picks_3.asp

The True Guru goes 4-2 for a second week, clinched 3rd playoff

I had another solid week going 4-2. I clinched a playoff berth in the Blog Talk Radio league, but lost for the fifth straight week in the Vegas Vs. Texas league.

Record through week 11 - 42-30 (6 Leagues reporting)
Overall 51-33 including my seventh league

*** Clinched Playoff Berth

Blog Talk Radio League (8-4)***
Took over the #1 seed in the league with a big 150 point performance and win over Strech Drive. I also clinched a playoff spot.

Drunken Pirate Slapfight Expert League (9-3)***
Won my ninth game of the season and clinched the division.

Vegas Vs. Texas League (6-6)
Lost my fifth match in a row, and might not make the playoffs. In order to make the playoffs I have to win and hold my 15 point league over LV Ravens.

J.A.I.L. League (5-7)
My team has turned it on big time. All that I need to do is win and maintain my large point lead and I make the playoffs.

Fantasy Football Search Expert League (7-5)
I huge win over Mike Bowser and it came down to Robert Meacham for me. The last catch he got was the winner for me, 134-133. If I win, I'm in the playoffs.

Coast 2 Coast (7-5)***
The Colston TD at the end of the Monday night game cost me this league. I just need to win next week and I clinch the BYE week in the playoffs.

Mike Bowser Week 12 Projections Released!

The True Guru's Week 12 Sleepers

Allot of injuries occurred last week, so I'll do my best to fine some deep sleepers for your week 12 match up.

BYES: NONE

Quarterbacks
Matt Cassel QB, SD - At home and against a tough division opponent, Cassel should perform well. He's been working well with his receivers Long and Chambers. Expect 275 yards and 2 TDs.

Josh Freeman QB, ATL - Freeman will likely be playing from behind from the 1st quarter on as Atlanta pulls out its running game. Freeman should find plenty of holes in the Falcons 29th ranked pass defense.

Runningbacks

Jason Snelling, ATL - Snelling was awesome last week and he will be against this week. He faces Tampa Bay with the 32nd ranked defense in the NFL. That is dead last. Snelling could go nuts and have a huge game.

Fred Jackson RB, BUF - With Lynch possibly out with a bum shoulder, Fred Jackson should shoulder (no pun intended) the load for the Bills running game. He over matches the Miami run defense and could have a big game with his pass catching skills as well. Look for a TD and 150 combined yards.

Mike Bell RB, NO - Bell had a great game last week, and the Saints will need him again if they want to remain undefeated. Expect the Saints to try and control the ball with Bell and Thomas. A TD is not out of the question as Bell continues to vulture them away from Thomas.

Wide Receivers

Dominick Hixon WR, NYG - Hixon has been very quiet as of late, but this week against Denver presents a great match up for him. With Champ Bailey following Steve Smith and Manningham, Hixon should get more attention this week and likely find the end zone.

Lance Long WR, KC - Expect a solid day for long. Cassel will be throwing all day and Long should recieve plenty of targets. He's a deep sleeper this week, but one worth considering.

Tight Ends

Martellus Bennett TE, DAL - With Jason Witten likely not to play with a sprained foot, Bennett becomes an instant threat on offense. At 6'5" he's a big target and safety net for Romo. He's been targeted in the red zone before and should see more against the Raiders on Thanksgiving.

Davis Thomas TE, NO - The Saints will need every player they have to beat the Patriots and with 9 catches and over 110 yards in the past two weeks Thomas could provide that. He caught a TD last week and could do it again.

Defenses

Tennessee - Tennessee has been playing much better and now that are at home against the Cardinals. Warner is likely to play, but even with him in the game, expect the Titans to get a couple of picks, several sacks, and maybe a TD. They are a deep play this week, but should perform well.

Dallas Cowboys - The Cowboys don't produce allot of turnovers or TDs, but this week they have the Oakland Raiders, who do produce allot of turnovers and TDs for the other teams defense.

Happy Thanksgiving! Thursday Game Picks

Green Bay at Detroit -
Predicted Score 41-13, Green Bay.

There is a big question on whether Stafford or Johnson will play. By the looks of it, Johnson is not playing. He fell hard on his already injured knee last week in the win over Cleveland. Stafford dislocated his left shoulder and likely won't play either. Neither have practiced this week and if Detroit is smart they will give their injured young players a week off.

The only worthy start for Detroit is Kevin Smith. Expect Detroit to be playing from behind most of the game and that will mean plenty of passes for Smith. I only expect one TD for Detroit and Smith should be the guy who gets it.

Brandon Pettigrew is a risky start, but assuming Culpepper starts, Pettigrew along with Smith will get allot of targets from Culpepper with the Packers secondary closing off the receivers.

Oakland Raiders Vs. Dallas Cowboys
Predicted Score - 34-6 Dallas.

Dallas is outstanding on Thanksgiving. From 2006-2008 the Cowboys offense has put up 106 points (35 per game) and given up less than 20 points. Expect the Cowboys to destroy the Raiders, particularly in the running game. Marion Barber, Felix Jones, and Tashard Choice are all worthy of starting, but Barber should be the big dog for the offense. Expect over 100 yards and 2 TDs if all goes well for the Cowboy stud. Felix Jones or Choice should get another.

On the passing front, Romo will look to reestablish his passing game with 200 yards and 2 TDs and he will use Miles Austin to get it started. Look for him to exploit Raiders man-man coverage with the speedy Austin, especially against Nnamdi Asomugha. Roy Williams will see action as well, but I don't believe he will find the end zone this week. The other TD that Romo will likely throw is to his tight end. I am expecting Jason Witten to suit up, but not play. If he doesn't that means Martellus Bennett will start and he is a force to reckon with in the passing game. At 6'5" he can catch Romo's high passes and is a serious red zone target every time they get down there.

NY Giants Vs Denver Broncos
Predicted Score 27-24 Denver.
This will be the best game on Thanksgiving and should go down to the last play. Denver is reeling after 4 straight losses and the Giants just ended their own 4-game losing streak last week with a OT win over Atlanta. Expect The Giants to come out running and control the ball. With Bradshaw out this week, Danny Ware will work with starter Brandon Jacobs to pound the ball against Denver. I have no doubt that the Giants will run the ball 30+ times in this game. On the passing front, Eli manning will throw enough to have a good impact. Look for 200 yards and 2 TDs. Steve Smith has a great match up when he's not with Champ Bailey. Start him and you should get a TD. The other TD will go to the quiet Dominic Hixon, but in reality could go anywhere. Kevin Boss is a must start and could get in the touchdown mix. Mario Manningham appeared last week after a quiet four weeks and had a great game. There is little to think he will repeat that performance, but it's hard to bench him. He is a solid #3 WR/Flex.

Denver will move the ball against the Giants. Kyle Orton looked alright last week and should be good to go this week. He will need to throw often, but success is not guaranteed. The risk with Orton is will his ankle flair up and cause passes to flutter and in the pocket sacks. Your best bet is benching him, but if you have no choice go with him. My projections at his best are 225 yards and a TD. Brandon Marshall should see plenty of targets, but I think the sleeper for Denver this week is Jabar Gaffney. He's been getting allot more attention from Orton with Marshall pulling double coverage. Knowshawn Moreno is getting better each week and if it wasn't for a stupid fumble last week, he would have had an outstanding week. Expect a big game for Moreno. 90 yards and a TD should be a lock, but 100+ yards and 2 TDs isn't crazy.

The True Guru's Week 11 Sleepers

I wasn't happy with my week 10 selections, but I got some nice sleeper's for week 11.

BYES: NONE

Quarterbacks

Joe Flacco, BAL - If Baltimore wants to win and I think they can, Flacco must perform. He is playing a beat up Colts secondary and should put up 225 yards and 2 TDs.

Brady Quinn - He's got Detroit and that can help any struggling offense. Expect 2-3 TDs and 250 yards at most.

Runningbacks

Jason Snelling, ATL - With Turner out and Atlanta facing the Giants, Snelling is a great option. He's a fast and powerful runner and should be able to put up some serious yards against New York.

Knowshawn Moreno, DEN - Moreno has a big match up against Sand Deigo and a run defense that is ranked 23rd in the league. Moreno could have his breakout performance of the season.

Wide Receivers

Maurice Stovall WR, TB - Stovall has been Freeman's favorite target, and with Bryant out he is starting. There is a chance Bryant plays, but even if he does Stovall will seen plenty of action. If you need a deep WR go with Stovall.

Mohamed Massaquoi WR, CLE - Massaquoi has a great match up this week with Detroit. Cleveland's offense will score against Detroit, that I guarantee.

Tight Ends

Robert Royal TE, CLE - Same issue as Massaquoi. Royal will be Quinn's safety net the whole game. Also, Heiden likely won't play.

Defenses

New England - The new England defense plays the Jets very hard in this division rivalry. Look for New England to expose Sanchez and have a field day this Sunday.

Fantasy Football Sleepers/Creepers - 11/17

Fantasy Football Sleepers/Creepers
Our thoughts on some possible undervalued and overvalued players...

Updated November 17, 2009  JunkyardJake.Com

Calvin Johnson ,WR

- Even a talented crime-fighter like Calvin 'Mega-Tron' Johnson needs a little help from his super friends now and again. Not to make excuses for his discouraging fantasy performance this season, but the Detroit Lions have no offensive line to speak of, no legitimate #2 receiving threat, and Matthew Stafford is no Aquaman. In fact, noone expected Stafford to have a Dan Marino rookie campaign, but he has played more like a crabby and injury-prone Wonder Woman so far. That said, when healthy, few receivers possess the physical ability to dominate mortal cornerbacks like Calvin Johnson. Stafford can remain his inconsistent self for now, because all he really needs to do is throw in the general vicinity of Johnson and positive results are bound to happen.

Ricky Williams ,RB

- At 32 years old, and with a seemingly much more compelling player ahead of him on the depth chart, Ricky Williams really had no business representing a viable fantasy option this year. The results have obviously suggested otherwise however, as Williams is averaging 72 yards per game, with 8 total TDs so far. It gets even better, because with Ronnie Brown very likely out this week, the veteran is inline for more extensive action against the questionable Carolina run defense. Maybe those couple years he spent at Cannabis University served him well, but whatever the reason, even if Brown returns this season, Williams should continue to serve as at least a solid flex/#3 option.

Anquan Boldin ,WR

- Owning Anquan Boldin in fantasy leagues this year has been somewhat analogous to owning the Sears FlapDoodle-5000 lawn tractor. For anyone unfamiliar with this particular model of lawn tractor, it is a fictitious machine made up specifically for this comparison that never starts when you need it, and sets you back about $500 a year in repairs. Don't despair though, because Boldin demonstrated last week with his 8 catch, 105 yard performance that he could be past his nagging knee problems. What makes Boldin even more intriguing, is the Cardinals schedule down the stretch this year. From now through week 16, Arizona faces St. Louis twice, Tennessee, Detroit, San Francisco with a marginally tough home game against Minnesota just to keep it somewhat fair.

LeSean McCoy/Leonard Weaver ,RB

- With everyone insisting on clobbering Brian Westbrook in the noggin lately, the veteran runningback is now in peril of missing multiple games after suffering his second concussion in the last month. The Eagles still have some strange aversion to running the ball this year, and rookie LeSean McCoy needs to refine his skills as a pass-blocker, but he's proven to be a decent #2 fantasy RB when given the chance. As a receiver, the Eagles don't lose much with McCoy filling in for Westbrook, and he is probably just as effective at the goalline. If you are really reaching for runningback help, Leonard Weaver is a decent guy to consider too, as he is expected to share time with McCoy while Westbrook is out.

Justin Forsett ,RB

- There is nothing positive about an injury to any player, but if we have to grasp for any good news related to the injury to Julius Jones, it might be that the Seahawks have possibly upgraded their running game by default. Forsett is a bit lacking in the size department, but at 5-8, 195, he is comparable in stature to Ray Rice. Moreover, his instinctive running, vision and acceleration have drawn comparisons to Maurice Jones-Drew. Forsett has a tough matchup versus Minnesota this week, but has the Rams in week 12 and is worth picking up for immediate RB help.

Dwayne Bowe ,WR

- If Dwayne Bowe was taking performance enhancing drugs this season, we hope he saved the receipt because it hasn't seemed to help him or the Kansas City offense whatsoever. In any event, Bowe has earned himself a four-game suspension, which knocks him out until week 15. Obviously Bowe is not going to be much help to you the next month while he is in the studio working on his new hip-hop single with Dr. Androgenic. As such, if your team is on the fringe of making the fantasy playoffs, it could make sense to deal Bowe away to the 8-2 team in your league for immediate receiver alternatives.

Tony Romo ,QB

- It's always been a challenge to forecast which Tony Romo will show up each week, but at least he's narrowed it down this season. It seems that the 2009 Romo will either be the guy who throws 3 picks, and needs to be escorted from the stadium under heavy security to avoid being pelted with bottles, or the QB who makes Miles Austin look like Michael Irvin. Of course, this is just a completely unfair exaggeration, because Romo is obviously a pretty good fantasy QB. However, here are a couple of things to consider as we head into the final weeks of the season. First off, the Dallas Cowboys schedule against the pass is fairly unfriendly down the stretch. Here is their schedule from weeks 11 thru 16 - Washington, Oakland, @NY Giants, San Diego, @New Orleans, @Washington. Secondly, ever since becoming a starter in 2006, Romo has yet to have a good December. Over his career, he has a 19 INT to 14 TD ratio, and a QB rating of 72 in the final month of the season.

Laurence Maroney ,RB

- It's probably worth hanging onto Laurence Maroney through the end of the season, just remember to set your expectations sufficiently low enough to avoid the bagholders remorse that will likely occur. Maroney hasn't been terrible, but that's about as complimentary as you can get with this guy. If nothing else, he's been consistent with his typical pattern of an occasional great game, and then right back into the witness protection program he goes. Maroney's numbers could take an additional hit if Sammy Morris makes it back this week, and also consider that the Patriots are facing some pretty good defenses over the next three weeks, with the Jets at home up next, and then away games versus New Orleans and Miami.

Ryan Fitzpatrick/Trent Edwards ,QB

- It looks like Bills coach Dick Jauron was just fired today, but was he really going to start Ryan Fitzpatrick again? It would surely make sense to bench Trent Edwards if the Bills had anything that could be confused with a potentially better option, but what in the world has Ryan Fitzpatrick done to suggest he is that better option ? In the battle of the former Ivy league QBs who are probably better suited as government lobbyists or aerospace engineers, Harvard's Ryan Fitzpatrick has a 49 QB rating and has completed 49 percent of his passes this season, while Stanford's Trent Edwards has a 78 QB rating and has completed 61% of his passes. Applying simply mathematics to this situation, it's easy to conclude that Trent Edwards is partly awful with a chance of occasional offense, while Ryan Fitzpatrick does little more than keep the punter busy. Either way, this is a situation to keep away from.

Larry Johnson ,RB

- It's nice to see Larry Johnson escape from the Kansas City Chiefs so he can possibly finish out his career with a playoff contending team that engages in something resembling marginally effective offensive football. Of course the problem still remains that Johnson is missing a few steps from the front porch on his old house, and is in jeopardy of getting shutdown by the building inspector. For now, Johnson looks to be around #4 on the Bengals depth chart behind Benson, Bernard Scott and Brian Leonard, so he is probably not worth picking up unless he is your Twitter buddy.

Week 10 Infirmary Report

Week 10 Infirmary Report
By Todd Farino

Kyle Orton QB, Denver Broncos - Suffered an ankle injury and is currently questionable for week 11. The Broncos will do everything to get him on the field this Sunday, but even if he does he will be a statue for linebackers to hammer.

Brian Westbrook RB, Eagles - Westbrook suffered his second concussion in two weeks. He is without a doubt out week 11, and I believe he will be out at least 4 weeks if not the rest of the season. We very well could have seen the last of this great runningback in the NFL.

Cedric Benson RB, Bengals - Injured his him in Sunday's game vs. Pittsburgh in the 1st quarter. He is questionable for week 11, but the Bengals are concerned enough that the signed Larry Johnson.

Ronnie Brown RB, Dolphins - Brown injured his right foot Sunday and is out week 11 against Carolina. The Dolphins aren't sure when we will return. Since the Dolphins run the wildcat offense expect rookie Kory Sheets to get plenty of reps in practice and carries this Thursday.

Julius Jones RB, Seahawks - Injured his ribs against Arizona and is questionable for week 11. I expect him to play with limited practice all week.

Michael Turner RB, Falcons - injured his ankle against the Panthers. All reports are that its a high ankle sprain and he is doubtful for week 11.

Mike Bowser Week 10 Projections Released!

Mike was down with the Swine flu last week, so no projections. He's back and healthy as a horse and ready to go for week 10:

http://www.fantasyfootballsearch.com/mikes_projections1.asp

Week 10: Chicago Vs. San Francisco

Thursday games are here. I will give you the picks you need for every Thursday game and for the rest of week's picks, check out our Expert Weekly Rankings.

START

Matt Forte RB, CHI - Forte over matches the San Francisco defense. On the road, expect the Bears to run allot and Forte should find holes and improve his 3.5 yards per carry average.

Frank Gore RB, SF - Gore will be a force to reckon with against the Bears front seven. Look for 90 yards and a TD at least.

Jay Cutler QB, CHI - With Nate Clement out for the season, expect Cutler to CUT up the Bears secondary. He'll throw a few picks, but he'll throw a few TDs as well.

Devin Hester WR, CHI - If the Bears want to win, Hester will need to be involved.

Michael Crabtree WR, SF - Crabtree will get his first TD of his career this game. Bank on it.

Vernon Davis TE, SF - Davis won't have a huge game, but 6 catches, 70 yards and a TD should be achievable.

Greg Olsen TE, CHI - Olsen is on fire, and a great start week 10. The end zone should be his again this week.

SLEEPER:

Johnny Knox WR, CHI - I have no doubt that Knox will play a big role in tonight's game and get one of Cutler's TDs tonight.

Who's your daddy. The True Guru goes 1-5 week 9

What a brutal week for me. Week 9 was a big week and I failed to get more than one win. My only win was in Drunken Pirate Expert League. I did lose a game on the last play of the Monday night game, with Hines Ward catching a TD. I'm 4-8 in the past two weeks and I need a big week 10 to pull out of it.

Record through week 9 - 31-23 (6 Leagues reporting)
Overall 37-19 including my seventh league

Blog Talk Radio League
Primetime put up a record 177 points and crushed me 177-113. I had no chance this week. I'm still tops in my division with the #2 seed.

Drunken Pirate Slapfight Expert League
I came back with a big division win over Fantasy Sharks Radio and I now am 2 wins away from a playoff berth. Less if others lose.

Vegas Vs. Texas League
I lost to AJ Pelletier on the last play of the Steelers game. He had Hines Ward and I had Mendenhall. It can't get much closer then that.

J.A.I.L. League
I got smoked by Johnny Archive. I'm 2-7 now, and my season is about over. I haven't had much luck in this league.

Fantasy Football Search Expert League
I lost a tough game to AJ Pelletier and the NFL Fantasy Playbook. 140-107. My main problem is runningbacks. Moreno and Jacobs suck right now.

The True Guru's Week 9 Sleepers

Week 9 has six teams on the BYE and plenty of us will be looking for quality players. Here is my week 9 list of sleepers.

BYES: Bills, Browns, Vikings, Jets, Raiders, Rams

Quarterbacks

Jason Campbell, Was - The Redskins will get beat badly by Atlanta. Campbell should be passing all day and get plenty of garbage points.

David Garrard, Jac - Garrard is at home and going against a putrid defense in Kansas City. He could easily throw for 250 yards and 2 TDs. Assuming Jones-Drew doesn't hog all the TDs.

Runningbacks

Felix Jones, DAL - I expected more from Jones last week, and I'm not changing my tune this week. In order for the Cowboys to win in Philly they will need a good game from Jones. Look for the Cowboys to run often and for Jones to produce.

Steve Slaton, Hou - Weird calling him a sleeper, but most owners are probably going to bench him. Unless you have another solid runningback, go with Slaton. It's likely the Texans will be passing all day and when they pass, Slaton is the guy in the backfield.

Wide Receivers

Chris Henry, Cin - Palmer will throw often against the Ravens and Henry should easily get past the aging Ravens secondary for a long touchdown.

Jabar Gaffney, Den - With the Steelers focusing attention on Marshall, Gaffney will get allot of targets and should end up with a TD.

Tight Ends

Fred Davis, Was - Davis is taking over for Cooley this week. The 2nd round draft pick has the skills to produce and should see plenty of targets from Campbell.

Martellus Bennett, Dal - Bennett still hasn't done much this year, but he is a constant target in the red zone and the Cowboys will use the two tight end set a ton against Philly.

Defenses

San Francisco - San Fran plays well at home and they have the mistake laden Titans in town. San Francisco can end up having a big point producing day on defense.

Seattle Seahawks - Seattle has the Lions in town. Seattle plays very well at home and should be able to hold the Lions to less then 10 points and produce some solid fantasy points.

Week 9 Bench/Start Picks Released

The True Guru goes 3-3 in week 8, dominates in the expert league

This was a tough week for the The True Guru. I lost in two leagues I don't normally lose in, and I continue to sink in the JAIL league.

Record through week 8 - 30-18 (6 Leagues reporting)
Overall 37-19 including my seventh league

Blog Talk Radio League
I faced-off again fellow host AJ Pelletier and defeated him with a strong team performance. With this win I took over the division lead and the #1 seed in the league.

Drunken Pirate Slapfight Expert League
I got blasted by RC Rizza. I have a history of getting destroyed by RC and this game just adds another chapter to that story. This is a league I was 6-1 coming into week 8.

Vegas Vs. Texas League
Another league I lost in that I should have. I lost to LV Ravens by 13 points and I has Steve Slaton on my team. Nuff Said.

J.A.I.L. League
I played AJ Pelletier in this league as well. I fought hard, but in the the end Pierre Thomas killed me in the 109-99 loss.

Fantasy Football Search Expert League
Big win here. I beat Lester's Legends, the leader of the East division. I had a strong team performance lead me to the 20+ point victory.

Fantasy Football Sleepers/Creepers - 11/4

Fantasy Football Sleepers/Creepers
Our thoughts on some possible undervalued and overvalued players...

Updated November 4, 2009  JunkyardJake.Com

Malcolm Floyd ,WR

- Well apparently the Chargers had enough of watching Chris Chambers get in the way of their other receivers who have a chance of catching the ball. They summarily granted the 31 year old receiver his release on Monday, leaving career backup Malcolm Floyd to vie for the residual passes that don't go in Vincent Jackson's or Antonio Gate's direction. At 6-5 and 225 lbs, Floyd is a huge target, and has decent speed to boot, so it wouldn't be surprising if he does well as a starter. Keep in mind however that the Charger's passing offense is still largely controlled by a Phillips/Jackson/Gates oligarchy, so Floyd's value will likely be limited to a speculative play going forward.

Dustin Keller ,TE

- Dustin Keller finally broke out of his slumber against Miami to deliver the respectable fantasy output he is capable of. Unfortunately, many fantasy managers probably either dropped him or watched Keller help their bench players outscore their selected week 8 lineup. It's difficult to say if Keller will be trustworthy going forward, but note that he led the team in targets with 13 in week 8. Also consider that Keller was the preferred target over Jerricho Cotchery and Braylon Edwards in the redzone, where he was targetred three times this past week.

Jamaal Charles/Kolby Smith ,RB

- The Kansas City Chiefs offense no doubt spent the bye figuring out different ways that they could represent an abject embarrassment to professional sports. Of course, we won't see the details of this plan in action until Sunday, but what we do know for certain is that the scoreboard operator will not be deprived of his typical naptime and Larry Johnson will be suspended for at least one game. Jamaal Charles should be the primary beneficiary of the Johnson suspension, but don't count out Kolby Smith, who returns from injured reserve this week. Whatever the ultimate RB mix this week, the Chiefs get a decent matchup versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, so either guy is worth flex consideration.

Zach Miller ,TE

- Zach miller is kind of like the conscientious GM assembly line worker helping to churn out Chevy Aveo's for a bankrupt and languishing organization. Of course, the sad thing about this analogy, is that comparing the Oakland Raider offense to a Chevy Aveo may actually be too generous. For now, Miller remains the only member of the Raider offense who is arguably worth consideration as a fantasy starter, and you can't help to wonder what Miller could actually accomplish on a functional offensive team with a competent quarterback.

Mike Thomas ,WR

- Mike Thomas is an interesting rookie receiver who has quietly been assuming a more significant role over the past two games for the Jaguars, where he has accumulated over 50 yards in each game. Against the Titans this past week, he actually had more pass targets (7) than Mike Sims-Walker (3). He is almost certainly still available on your waiver wire, because at a dimutive 5-8 (5-9 with his fancy shoes), he is a little bit difficult to locate. If you need depth at receiver though, he's not a bad guy to consider, especially in leagues that award points for return yardage.

Josh Freeman/Antonio Bryant ,QB/WR

- To any saavy fantasy player, this will not occur to be a revolutionary thought, but it needs to said anyway - It seems very unlikely that a midseason transtion to rookie QB Josh Freeman is going to help reverse the fortunes of the team's dreadful passing offense. Freeman does have a rocket arm, but will need to improve his accuracy to make an impression in the pros. Moreover, he is considered quite raw, even compared to the typical rookie QB. Really, the only way that the Buccaneers could have sent a clearer signal that they were conceding the remainder of the 2009 season, is if they replaced the pennant on the Raymond James Stadium pirate ship with a white flag exhibiting a new team symbol of Droopy Dog holding a bottle of Prozac.

Steve Slaton ,RB

- Given that Steve Slaton was abruptly pulled after serving up his 3rd turnover in three weeks, it's probably safe to conclude that Houston head coach Gary Kubiak has a low tolerance for chronically fumbling runningbacks. At least Slaton got his day over early, because his fumble and immediate benching occurred on his very first carry of the game. Maybe we should have seen this coming, as Kubiak still makes his youngest son do 75 pushups and a couple laps if he drops a cookie on the kitchen floor.

Donnie Avery ,WR

- Donnie 'Peanut Brittle' Avery had his big chance to do something significant against the Lions in week 8, and as we should have expected, he blew it. At least the fragile 2nd year receiver seemed to emerge from the Rams latest passing offensive debacle without hurting himself again. Unfortuately, fantasy teams who chose to start Avery had no such luck, as they absorbed the usual damage that results from starting any receiver associated with the Rams.

Mohamed Massaquoi ,WR

- How long is Browns head coach Eric Mangini going to stick with his awful decision to start Derek Anderson ? Maybe he is waiting for Titans owner Bud Adams to give him a call and tell him to switch back to Brady Quinn ? That seemed to work, at least temporarily, in the Vince Young situation. Please Bud Adams do Cleveland Browns fans a favor and give Mangini some much needed QB advice so Derek Anderson can pack up his 36.2 QB rating and head back into hibernation.

Julius Jones ,RB

- Julius Jones started off the season on a very optimistic note, with 119 yards and a TD in week one. However, considering Jone's undistinguished performance over the past couple years, we should have suspected that this one week explosion was just a cruel hoax. Sure enough, as the 2009 season has progressed, Julius Jones is drifting deeper into the Seattle fog. He's now reached the point where he is now almost exactly on pace to match his unmemorable 2008 season, when he finished with 698 yards, and a paltry 2 TDs. Seattle plays Detroit this week, so if by some miracle Jones has a significant game it would be a great opportunity to dump him in a trade of some kind.
