Week 1 Sleepers GURU STYLE!
Each week of the season I will bring you a small selection of my weekly sleepers. I expect these player's performances to exceed expectations and fantasy points. I base my findings on match ups, opposing defenses, injuries, skills, and a variety of other factors.
QUARTERBACKS
San Bradford, STL - The Rams can beat the Cardinals and I think they will. If they do, expect Bradford to throw for 200 yards and 2 TDs in his debut performance at home.
Josh Freeman, TB - Freeman should have no issues with his bad thumb and should throw plenty on the Cleveland Browns. Expect him and rookie Mike Williams to have big days. 220 yards and 2 TDs in the minimum expected.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Legedu Naanee, SD - I was all over this guy in the fantasy drafts and in week one I'm already calling him a sleeper. With the arrival of Patrick Crayton some have let him go. He has a great match up versus the Kansas City Chiefs and I expect 90-110 yards and at least one TD.
RUNNINGBACKS
Jerome Harrison, CLE - If the Browns want to have any chance against the Buccaneers they will need to run early and often. Enter Harrison. The Browns might lose bad, but it won't be because of Harrison. Also consider RB/WR Joshua Cribbs this week. Both can put up some great fantasy points.
Brandon Jacobs, NYG - Brush off that Bradshaw is starting. Jacobs will get 10-15 carries and the goal line touches. I expect 60-70 yards and 1-2 TDs.
TIGHT ENDS
Fred Davis, WAS - The Redskins will constantly run two tight end sets and with Cooley attracting most of the coverage, Davis will see plenty of targets. I can't guarantee a TD, but he should have chances.
Jermaine Gresham, CIN - The big dog will have his day. Gresham is a bad match up for the under sized Patriot defense. If Palmer can find him, the rookie TE could have a great day. I expect at the very least 60 yards and a TD, but that is conservative.
DEFENSES
Tampa Bay - Tampa will be at home and playing a bad Cleveland team. If Delhomme is still throwing INTs all day, expect the Bucs to score on defense and keep Delhomme planted in the ground the entire game.
Chicago - I love Chicago's defense at home against the young Lions. I expect them to give up points, but they also will capitalize on turnovers and Hester is due to run a kick back.
