Aj's Playoff Domination

All the planning and research i started in week 9 paid off.

I did hours of research and realized that i should be able to dominate my way through the playoffs using the trenches.

Defense and kickers are often overlooked and never talked about, so even when it came to the show i co-host the talk was never there. Last Wednesday i mentioned that Tennessee would be the number 1 defense. There were number 2 only behind San Fran who i am sure not many played given their match up against Arizona's high powered offense.

In every league i played in i played Tennessee as my defense as they were playing the rams, and that was before i knew that Noll was getting the start for St. Louis.

Another trench gold at this time of year was Rob Bironas. Once Tennessee fell off the charts and were getting dropped i kept my eye on everyone because Bironas and the Defense was ranked in the top 3 coming into the year. When they started to win i checked their match ups and realize i could use them in week 14 to get me through the week. And that it did as i Knocked off THE CHAMP in one league who was the reigning 3 time champ. The same expert fell to me in another league making my domination of him throughout the year come to an end in both league as i move on to the semi finals against other great managers.

As for my week 15 and 16 trench use Arizona in week 15. Houston is a good play as well.

Week 16 has two options as well Arizona again and San Fran as a second option.

Week 17 for those who play in this week will find some good numbers with San Fran.

Of course there are the Saints and the Vikings that can be played each week but are dangerous as they might be resting some players late in the year. The teams and weeks i have mentioned are free agent options that i planned in using since week 9 as i have played this year with the free agent of the week on defense strategy.

Good Luck All

Catch Barracuda Sports Sunday Kickoff Show 11:30 AM EST!

I've recently discovered a fast growing fantasy sports forum over at BarracudaSports.com! Although they have forums available for just about any sport you can think of, Barracuda Sports Forums have the most member traffic in their football and basketball sections. One of their primary focal points in the Forum is what they call Doc's Office, it's an area of the forum where Eddy "Doc Diablo" Spriggs & Joseph "Cuda Joe" Knowles,co -owners of Barracuda Sports, spend much of their time answering fantasy "who to start" questions for their members. In a direct spin of from this forum and at the request of their members Cuda Joe and Doc Diablo have also been on Blog Talk Radio for the the last two years producing a LIVE "who to start" radio show for their listeners every Sunday Morning starting at 11:30 am Eastern throughout the football season. They take live callers as well as questions posted on their forums and use a combination of projections, fantasy statistics, and other top end analysis to give you their pick for your starting line-up. So for those of you looking for some last minute line-up help for your fantasy playoffs you can find their show at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/barracudafantasysports or you can simply go to BarracudaSports.com on Sunday morning where you can find links to the show or post a question to be answered LIVE in the Barracuda Forums.

CHAMPS to CHUMPS

Just a few months ago most were giving the Steelers a better than good chance to repeat as champions. In the last five weeks we have watch them lose to the KC Chiefs, Oakland Raiders and the Cleveland Browns. All three of these teams have at one time or the other within in the year been called the worst in the NFL and there is no one that can dispute that they are within the lower end of the league. So, if a team loses to all three including the team that is called the worse, and is statistically the worst on offense and defense, than shouldn't that mean that the Pittsburgh Steelers are the worst in the NFL regardless of the six wins they can boost about?

The True Guru's Week 14 Sleepers

By Todd Farino
Follow me on Twitter: Todd Farino

First week of the playoffs, here we go.

Quarterbacks

Alex Smith, QB SF - He's been great lately and this week he has even more advantages.  He's at home, on Monday Night, and has the high-flying Cardinals coming off a big win.  This game should be a shootout and the Cardinals defense is ripe for a let-down.
Matt Hasselbeck, QB SEA - Hasslebeck can still throw, no one doubts that.  He has talented WRs in Burleson, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, and Deion Branch.  He has good weather and should be in a shootout with the Texans.  Start him.

Runningbacks

Chris Brown, RB HOU - My sources in Houston are saying that Brown will start and see the the majority of the carries.  The Texans really like what they see in Brown and want his veteran leadership in that role.  He should have a nice game and get in the end zone.
Quinton Ganther, RB WAS - Ganther will get the starting nod versus a terrible run defense in the Raiders.  He will share some time with Cartwright, but Ganther should have a solid day.

Wide Receivers

Mark Clayton, WR BAL - With all the attention that Detriot can muster going towards Mason and Ray Rice, look for Clayton and Kelly Washington to get plaenty of targets.

Devin Thomas WR, WAS - The rookie WR is developing into the talent we all expected.  This week he faces the Raiders.  It's a tough matchup, but with coverage going to Moss, Thomas should be open plenty.  Start him.
Tight Ends

Dustin Keller TE, NYJ - With Clemons starting, he will look to his big tight end all day.  He may not score, but he should see plenty of receptions for a PPR league.

Ben Watson TE, NEP - He is way overdo for a TD and Brady will start hitting all his receivers like he did when they had better success and the Pats were winning.  Look for a TD for Watson and about three catches.

Defenses

Cleveland - They are at home, and the weather should be bad with 25+ MPH winds and 50% chance of snow.  The Steelers get sacked a ton.  All that said, start the Browns.

New England - New England is at home and they are pissed off.  They will host Carolina and no matter who plays QB they will get dominated by the Patriots.

Mike Bowser Week 14 Projections Released!

Tuesday, December 8, 2009

The True Guru makes playoffs in all 6 leagues, 4-2 for the week

This was a big week.  It is the final week before the playoffs in five of the six leagues.  I had three leagues that I had to win to make the playoffs; J.A.I.L., Vegas Vs Texas, and Fantasy Football Search Expert League.  I won in all three.  Here is the break down and round one playoff match ups.

Record through week 13 - 46-32 (6 Leagues reporting)
Overall 56-35 including my seventh league
*** Clinched Playoff Berth

Blog Talk Radio League (8-5)***
I lost to the great Ted Shauster this week.  Don't know who he is, either do I.  I lost by 10 points, but I was without DeAngelo Williams.  I claimed the 6th seed and I will face NFL Fantasy Playbook (AJ Pelletier).  It wasn't a good pull for the playoffs.  He is the top scoring team in the league.

Drunken Pirate Slapfight Expert League (10-3)***
I won the final game of the regular season and clinched the #1 Seed.  Overall the best league I performed in this season.  I ace UltimateFFStrategy.com week 14 for round one of the playoffs.
Vegas Vs. Texas League (7-6)***
I finally won after 5 straight losses and I clinched a playoff berth.  In round one I will face AJ Pelletier.  That name will haunt me this entire playoffs.
J.A.I.L. League (6-7)***
Won my 4th straight game and made the playoffs.  I will take on the #1 seed Dropkick Fluties in round one.  Over the last four weeks, I outscored the 13-0 team 511-466.

Fantasy Football Search Expert League (8-5)***
I beat the number one seeded team 187-124, and gained a tremendous amount of momentum and confidence going into the playoffs.  In week one I face Larry Joseph from Bruno Boys.

Coast 2 Coast (7-6)***
The parity in this league was outstanding, except for the one 13-0 team.  Right now there are 3 teams at 7-6 and three teams at 5-8.  I have one game left and it's a critical game.  Winner gets the round one BYE week 15.

Mike Bowser Week 13 Projections Released!

The True Guru's Week 13 Sleepers

Bad luck week 13 could end up being a good luck week with the right sleepers.

BYES: NONE

Quarterbacks

Jay Cutler QB, CHI - Cutler is facing St. Louis and their awful pass
defense.  If he was going to have a breakout game, this is it.

Alex Smith QB, SF - Smith has been hot lately, and has a great match up
against Seattle this week.  Seattle's defense does play well at home, but they
are beat-up and overmatched.

Runningbacks

Jonathan Stewart RB, CAR - Stewart is facing the horrible Tampa Bay run
defense.  With Williams hurting, Stewart should see plenty of carries and
possibly 2 TDs.

Rashard Mendenhall RB, PIT - Look for the Steelers to run 35+ times against
the Raiders.  It could be a huge day for Mendenhall.

Wide Receivers

Jason Avant WR, PHI - With DeSean Jackson out for the week, Avant makes a
great start against Atlanta and their abused pass defense.  Look for at least 1
TD from Avant this week.

Patrick Crayton WR, DAL With the secondary of the Giants focusing on Austin
and Williams, Crayton will sneak in a solid game and a TD.

Tight Ends

Will Heller TE, DET - Heller is a deep sleeper, but if you need a TE that
can get in the end zone, Heller has a good chance.  He is replacing Pettigrew
and already has 3 TDs.

Jason Witten TE, DAL - Witten has been a let down most of the season for his
owners, but in week 13 he will be used often by Romo to move the ball.  He
should be rested and healed from his ankle sprain and ready to catch a TD versus
the Giants.

Defenses

Chicago - They have the Rams and any team can look good against the Rams.

Buffalo - At home against the NY Jets.  you know the Bills secondary is
licking their chops for this one.

The True Guru goes 4-2 for a second week, clinched 3rd playoff

I had another solid week going 4-2. I clinched a playoff berth in the Blog Talk Radio league, but lost for the fifth straight week in the Vegas Vs. Texas league.

Record through week 11 - 42-30 (6 Leagues reporting)
Overall 51-33 including my seventh league

*** Clinched Playoff Berth

Blog Talk Radio League (8-4)***
Took over the #1 seed in the league with a big 150 point performance and win over Strech Drive. I also clinched a playoff spot.

Drunken Pirate Slapfight Expert League (9-3)***
Won my ninth game of the season and clinched the division.

Vegas Vs. Texas League (6-6)
Lost my fifth match in a row, and might not make the playoffs. In order to make the playoffs I have to win and hold my 15 point league over LV Ravens.

J.A.I.L. League (5-7)
My team has turned it on big time. All that I need to do is win and maintain my large point lead and I make the playoffs.

Fantasy Football Search Expert League (7-5)
I huge win over Mike Bowser and it came down to Robert Meacham for me. The last catch he got was the winner for me, 134-133. If I win, I'm in the playoffs.

Coast 2 Coast (7-5)***
The Colston TD at the end of the Monday night game cost me this league. I just need to win next week and I clinch the BYE week in the playoffs.
