A few random thoughts

In an attempt to sound informed, there are a lot of people running around talking about the Ravens "opening up their playbook" now that QB Joe Flacco has a year of experience under his belt. Gang, the Ravens used their entire playbook last year - it consists of four plays: Run left, run right, run up the middle, and oh crap we have to throw a pass. If you insist on drafting anybody associated with the Ravens passing game, don't say you weren't warned.

Hey Travaris Jackson, the tribe has spoken and Brett Favre will be there soon to extinguish your torch.

How bad do you think Matt Hasselbeck feels when he sees that a lot of people have him ranked behind Joe Flacco, Chad Pennington, and (wait for it) - Kyle Orton. Yikes.

I'm thinking that Jake Delhomme must have the best agent in the NFL. How else do you explain how a guy who only threw for 3,288 yards, 15TDs, and tossed 12INTs getting a big time contract extension? I guess it must have been that cluth play-off performance...

Wouldn't you just love to own the restaurant that hosted the LenDale White vs. JaMarcus Russell cheeseburger eating contest?

Did Matt Schaub get hurt yet? Eleven games in 07, 11 games in 08 - what's the over/under for this year? (I think I'll take Week 2 in the company pool....)

Hostage taking 09

As we all know we have entered that time of year where Bret Favre feels the need to dominate the headlines and blogs. So I will also give my insight to the situation.

A month ago or so when i was making my cheat sheets i didn't hesitate one single second to include Favre on the list as a viking and scored the whole offence accordingly. Why? Because i have learned that if Bret didn't intend to play football he wouldn't have had the surgery in the first place and now that he has his ego will be not allow him to miss a game that he can play in.

So, in that division you will see the Lions finish last, with the Packers in third again even though many people have them winning the division. How, i am not sure when their running back situation is weak and the Vikings and bears will stop that run before it hits the line of scrimmage as both play on the other side of the line.

Then you will see the true battle stem from the Vikings and bear. both have great defenses and both have improved their offenses. But I do believe the Vikings will win this battle as they have the better receivers, better running backs and then Bret Favre. The Bears win at tight end, have a great running game and the the second coming of Bret Favre. What i mean by that is that Cutler loves to throw even when he shouldn't. This division will lead the NFL for the amount of interceptions thrown thanks to great defenses and to Cutler and Favre who both have their fans holding their breaths every time they throw the ball.

All in all, this division could be the funniest to watch this year as you will see two games talked about for weeks before and after; those being when the Vikings meet the Packers.

Childress gives deadline

For everyone who has early drafts Brad Childress has helped you with the qb situation in Minnesota. There is little doubt that if Favre is throwing the ball for the Vikings that the stock of Berrian, Shancoe, Rice and Harvin go way up, but what does that do to Peterson? In my eyes his stock will go up as well. For the 2 years AD has been in the league he has faced 8 and even 9 men in the box. he then carries for 3 yards, 2 yards, a lose of 1, 4 yard gain, then 2, and POW 67 for a TD. Can you imagine if the defenses have to actually worry about the pass game in Minnesota. If so Peterson and Chester Taylor who is a great back in his own right will be facing only 7 men in the box in passing situations. So, when Childress gives Favre till the end of this week to make up his mind, then you too will know how to rank these players, and for me that is a relief because my boss THE TRUE GURU is breathing down my neck wanting my Cheat Sheets as we all prepare the best damn draft kit period for you the loyal readers of NFL Fantasy Playbook and Fantasy Football Search that is the best fantasy portal to help you get nothing but the wins baby.

Check back here by the end of the week for the continuing soap opera i call, "The Hostage Taking of '09." Last year the Jets almost survived the '08 drama with a playoff berth which would have made it worth while living through. Good luck to the Vikings this year.

OTA Drama

Ahhhhhhh, that special time of year where you have to continue listening to who isn't at the OTA camps and why. Really, they aren't called Optional because they have to show up. For teams that make the playoffs it was a longer season then lets say the Raiders or the Bengals who were out of the season pretty much after week 1. Some players could use the workouts and some need the rest. It is Optional, enough said. But i do believe if you have changes teams, or if you team has new coaches then you should be around so you can be in tune with everyone on the field when it comes to the game plan. In other words T.O. should have and showed up. As for J. Peppers of Carolina, well, with the contract and everything else, he isn't needed their now is he. he is a premiere player at the position and it is Optional. As for Fantasy status player, do NOT judge anything by OTA's. Some say to not even judge on Pre-Season games as some players don't even dress. One there that shouldn't is Clinton Portis of the Skins. Give him the rest as he is the golden boy there and if you want to be successful in the NFC EAST you better have him as rested as possible if you plan to not be in the bottom as i have you slated already and i don't see that changing. Ladaian Tomlinson is known for not caring the rock till week one and in those years he was the rushing leader and set records.

All in all, keep reading here at Fantasy Football Search for your news about players you need to pay attention, don't listen to the media blitz as some of them over play a small situation.
